WE HAVE UNDERGROUND SPRINKLERS…
They are wonderful! I always love to see those precious drops of water come up from the ground entrenching my front and backyards with the moisture they need, whenever the need it. It truly is a beautiful sight! I have seen birds purposefully take a shower; squirrels refusing to leave because they are eating; children running through them.
Selah.
I’ve enjoyed this every year at my home and thanked God more than once for freedom from the curse of original sin in all of us coming upon us through Adam.
Selah.
Today is October 2nd, 2025. Just a few days ago Duane had the man come out to blow out the sprinklers to winterize our sprinkler system. Doesn’t take him long…
This year I happened to come out with a pot of water and vinegar, a brush, and a cloth, to clean out both of our birdbaths. As I approached the first one, a man was standing at the end of his truck, greeting me. As I returned the greeting I found out he was here to flush out our sprinklers. I asked him if I were going to be in his way at all. No. So I proceeded with my work as he did his.
I pointed out the hole in the pumpkin. Our squirrels had made a large hole this year, the quickest one yet. We discussed the messiness of squirrels, how we feed them, and love them. We talked about the warm weather that day. We were friendly to each other. I enjoyed this sweet encounter.
We worked on.
My work only took about five to ten minutes. His: a little more. As I was nearly done (just had to collect my items and gather up the hose) this nice man told me the sprinklers would go off any minute. I acknowledged that and had the pleasure in telling him: “If you hear a loud scream, that will be me!”
He did.
My hose was put away. Now all I had to do was bend over, pick up my pot, step off the retaining wall onto the driveway, and go in the house…
But first:
I had to give a yell and a laugh!! Just as I was bending over, precisely at that time, I heard the sprinklers. There was one right by me! And it exactly in front of my face! You can see it coming! The water hit me square in the face! I yelled and laughed nearly at the same time!
I looked over to his truck because I knew he had to hear me (as did anyone else who was outside near me!) I saw him standing there looking. I told him, “That was fun!”
We waved goodbye. I have no doubt he chuckled about this all day long. And as Duane said, “He probably told all his friends!” I agreed.
I do love to make people smile and laugh! Like this time, it’s not always on purpose!
Enjoy your life!
SCRIPTURES REGARDING THIS JOY STORY:
Genesis 2:4-6
This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.
Growing up in a home without the love for God, an invalid father, heavy financial hardships, and tremendous (sometimes dangerous) discord is always difficult. Add on to that extreme shyness, a feeling of inferiority, and some may think this girl was rejected. But God’s hand was on her and His heart was for her. Today, Ann Marie Turner has performed many great services in Jesus’ name for the love of God and man; and for herself! She has ministered in the male correctional for over ten years. Writing about the joy of the Lord and the victory that is available for a willing soul is one of Ann’s now greatest joys! Ann’s prayer for you is to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Celebrate the God of the Bible and your personal victories in Christ unceasingly! Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
